The British Columbia government has entered into two agreements-in-principle with the Snuneymuxw First Nation.

One agreement settles the band's land, treaty, water, natural resource and other rights. The second recognizes the band's right to self-governance.

The second agreement appears inconsistent with the Liberal Party's principles on treaty rights, said an opposition leader. The Liberal Party has endorsed a municipal-style government for First Nations.
