BIA's Aurene Martin to appear on radio show

MONDAY, APRIL 21, 2003 Acting assistant secretary Aurene Martin, current head of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, will appear Friday on Native America Calling. Martin joined the Bush administration in October 2001 as counselor to former assistant secretary Neal McCaleb. After McCaleb's deputy, Wayne Smith, was forced out, she was named deputy assistant secretary. She has held the acting assistant secretary title since McCaleb resigned in December 2002. Prior to joining the administration, Martin served as Republican counsel on the Senate Indian Affairs Committee. Friday's show "Indian in the Spotlight" will air at 1 p.m. EST. Relevant Links:
