All Americans should applaud Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano (D) for pushing to rename Squaw Peak to Piestewa Peak in honor of Lori Piestewa, the Hopi woman killed in action in Iraq, The Albuquerque Tribune says in an editorial.

"While the idea has met with insensitive and partisan slams from Arizona Republicans, the newly elected Democratic Gov. Napolitano should not be deterred," the paper says. "Her idea is admirable on many levels, and officials should be embracing, not rebuking, it."

The paper urges state and federal authorities to finalize the name change immediately.
