Parents: Santorum tripped over a chair

FRIDAY, MAY 2, 2003 Senator Rick Santorum, the third-ranking Republican in the Senate, tripped over a chair after a heated meeting with parents of gay and lesbian children who were offended by his recent remarks comparing gays to criminals, The New York Times reports Santorum met with the parents for 30 minutes, the parents said. According to one, he was "condescending, belligerent, argumentative and arrogant." Republicans have defended Santorum. Get the Story:
