MONDAY, MAY 5, 2003

About 35 marchers, mostly Alaska Native women, walked 10 miles on Sunday to protest violence against women in Alaska.

The Walk for Justice was organized by Native activist Desa Jacobsson. She is on a hunger strike to protest the recent acquittal of a man for the rape and murder of Della Brown, an Alaska Native woman.

The march followed near where Brown's body was found in early September 2000 and near where another Native woman, Genevieve Tetpon, was found. Tetpon's death is unsolved.
