The Jicarilla Apache Nation of New Mexico has yet to reopen a rest area on tribal land that it closed five years ago, The Albuquerque Journal reports.

The rest area, previously run by the state, sits on tribal land. Under a deal signed in 1998, the state turned over management to the tribe.

According to the paper, the tribe closed the facility as it was building a casino next door. But the casino never took off and the tribe has no firm plans to reopen the rest area.
