Crow man 90 will finally receive doctorate

MONDAY, MAY 12, 2003 Joe Medicine Crow, 90, the historian for the Crow Tribe of Montana, will receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Southern California. Crow received his master's degree in anthropology from the school in 1939. He was the first Crow male to seek a postgraduate degree. He stayed at USC to obtain his doctorate. But, in 1941, after completing nearly all of his coursework, he was called to serve in World War II. Get the Story:
