Senator's son helped broker Calif. casino deal

FRIDAY, MAY 16, 2003 In 2000, Senator Barbara Boxer (D-California) sponsored legislation to restore the federal status of the Coast Miwok Tribe. More recently, her son helped broker a $24 million land sale for the tribe's proposed casino, according to The Santa Rosa Press Democrat. Doug Boxer's involvement has prompted Senator Boxer to disqualify herself from future dealings with the tribe. Doug Boxer's role in the deal, however, is questioned by others. Miwok chairman Doug Sarris says he was just a "glorified secretary" to Darius Anderson, described as the real power player. Others also was Anderson was the prime mover. Get the Story:
