A Tohono O'odham Nation judge dismissed an attempt by Mexican tribal members to delay the tribe's upcoming election for chairman.

Mexican members are allowed to sign up with one of 11 political districts on the Arizona side of the tribe's reservation. But a group of seven said their attempts to register to vote in the election were thwarted.

Incumbent chairman Edward Manuel and vice-chairman Henry A. Ramon are seeking re-election. The challengers are Vivian Juan-Saunders and her running mate, Ned Norris Jr. Juan-Saunders took more votes in the primary than Manuel.
