Replacements suggested for resigning Whitman

THURSDAY, MAY 22, 2003 With Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Christie Whitman resigning at the end of June, some names are surfacing as her replacement. According to The Washington Post, the list includes John Engler (R), former governor of Michigan; David B. Struhs, secretary of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection; and Josephine Cooper, an industry lobbyist who is the chief operating officer of the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers. Just don't ask New York Gov. George Pataki (R) -- he's not interested. Whitman said she was resigning to be with family. She frequently clashed with the White House on the administration's environmental policies. Get the Story:
