Members of the Yankton Sioux Tribe of South Dakota held a protest on Friday, calling for an investigation into a police officer they accused of brutality and racism.

Keeler Hopkins Jr., 21, was injured while he was being arrested by Lake Andes Police. Protesters allege Jeremiah Nelson hit Hopkins with a flashlight.

Police in Lake Andes and Charles Mix County have been accused of brutality and racial profiling. The county has jurisdiction over a large part of the Yankton Sioux Reservation, which is considered diminished.
