The Yankton Sioux Tribe of South Dakota is filing suit against the Department of Interior for alleged mismanagement of its trust assets.

The suit stems from the federal government's flooding of tribal land for the Pick-Sloan water project. The tribe claims it is owed a portion of revenues from hydroelectric power generated by the Fort Randall Dam.

Lawyers for the case want other Missouri River tribes to file similar suits.
