The Miccosukee Tribe of Florida is recommending William H. Rodgers Jr., a University of Washington Law School, be appointed special master in an Everglades cleanup suit being heard in federal court.

U.S. District Judge William Hoeveler plans to appoint a master to make sure the state is meeting its promises as part of the $8 billion cleanup project. The tribe owns land within the Everglades and wants to protect its rights.
