First Nations battle proposal to change governance

First Nations leaders in Canada are battling legislation that seeks to change how they govern themselves.

The First Nations Governance Act is intended to replace the Indian Act and calls for more accountability and greater self-governance. But Aboriginal leaders say they have not been consulted and say they will lobby to defeat the bill.
