Opposition forming to Ho-Chunk casino in Ill.

TUESDAY, JUNE 10, 2003 The Ho-Chunk Nation of Wisconsin is running into opposition for a proposed off-reservation casino in Illinois. Gov. Rod Blagojevich already said he opposes the proposal. House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R) and Rep. Phil Crane (R), whose district the casino would be located in, said they have serious concerns. Last Congressional session, Hastert co-sponsored a bill to terminate all tribal treaty rights and claims in Illinois. It failed to advance beyond a House hearing. Get the Story:
