MONDAY, JUNE 16, 2003

Alaska Congressman Don Young (R) last week introduced a bill to reauthorize the Indian Health Care Improvement Act to guide how health service are delivered to American Indians and Alaska Natives.

Young says the first version contains many problems that have to be fixed, blaming tribal attorneys for the errors. His version of the bill has 40 co-sponsors.

On the Senate side, Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-Colo.) is pushing for reauthorization.
