Communication with DOI called 'futile'

TUESDAY, JUNE 17, 2003 Tribes need to work directly with Congress and the White House because communication with the Department of Interior is "futile," a Navajo Nation council member said at a tribal summit. Tribal leaders met on the Gila River Reservation in Arizona to discuss greater policy issues that affect Indian Country. Called "One Voice for One Change," the summit looked at budget, consultation and government relationship issues. Get the Story:
