In Canada another Treaty Day brings another $5

Every year, the Canadian government doles out $5 to every Native man, woman and child, honoring a treaty promise made more than a century ago.

But some say the payment should keep up with modern times. A Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations representative says $5 in today's money would equal $40,000.
