A New York county filed a brief in response to the Seneca-Cayuga Tribe's land rights lawsuit.

The tribe was removed from New York to Oklahoma. Recently, it purchased 229 acres of land within its ancestral territory and plans to build a Class II bingo hall there.

Local officials say the land isn't Indian Country. Cayuga County's brief claims the tribe abandoned its rights in New York by agreeing to removal.
