Calif. tribe sues over discovery of remains

WEDNESDAY, JULY 2, 2003 The Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians has asked a state judge to halt work at a site where tribal ancestors were recently discovered. Work at the commercial site began in March, and 12 sets of human remains were accidentally unearthed. A disagreement has arisen over one burial, which the developer wants to move. A representative for the state Native American Heritage Commission said the commission tried to resolve the dispute. Get the Story:
