Pueblo leaders meet with president of Spain

MONDAY, JULY 14, 2003 Leaders of New Mexico's Pueblo governments met with the outgoing president of Spain in New Mexico on Saturday. The tribes and Spain have a relationship that goes back 400 years, some of it characterized by bloodshed and war. But the Pueblo governors and President José Maria Aznar said they want their governments to work together in the future. San Ildefonso Pueblo Gov. John Gonzales said he asked Aznar to relay tribal sovereignty concerns to President Bush. Get the Story:
