The Intertribal Bison Cooperative met with Wyoming Governor Dave Freudenthal to discuss bison management issues.

ITBC, which represents 51 tribes with bison herds, asked Freudenthal for support on two issues. One was developing a system to transfer excess bison from Yellowstone National Park to tribes and the other was a tribal position on the Greater Yellowstone Interagency Brucellosis Committee.

Freudenthal rejected the first idea, according to news accounts, saying the risks of brucellosis, a deadly cattle disease, were too great. He said he would consider the second.
