More Indian funding sought

The Utah Board of Education plans to ask the Legislature for $154,500 to hire an education specialist and a secretary in hopes of improving Indian education.

The director of the Utah Division of Indian Affairs says that an action plan he wrote on education has gone nowhere. Forrest Cuch's plan calls for bilingual education, improvement in social studies curricula, and adult-education classes.
