MONDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2001 The 113th annual meeting of the American Folklore Society ended in Anchorage, Alaska, on Sunday. The meeting drew a number of Alaska Native storytellers, who stressed the importance of oral tradition in their cultures. STories, they said, were particularly important as they passed on lessons and Native languages, many of which are slowly dying out. Get the Story:
