MONDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2001 Hope Worthington, a 20-year-old member of the Mississppi Band of Choctaw, is in her second year of teacher education at Mountain College in Spring Valley, Colorado. After receiving her associate's degree this spring, she plans on going to Mesa State College to get her teacher certification. Supported by her tribe, Worhtington says she wants to focus on preserving the Choctaw language and culture back home on the reservation. Worthington attended Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a tribal college. Get the Story:
