Students dream of futures

When some students at the Flandreau Indian School, an off-reservation boarding school operated by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, envision their future, they find themselves torn between going back to their reservations or seeking their dreams elsewhere.

Figuring out how to bridge the gap between the tribal and non-tribal worlds is one of the many challenges facing the students. But they are looking forward to careers in areas like law and education and are proud of growing up on their respective reservations.
