NOVEMBER 30, 2000

The coaching staff of the University of North Dakota have unanimously voiced their support of keeping the school's "Fighting Sioux" nickname.

Local tribes and most Native American students want the name to go. But many alumni and most other students want it to stay.

President Charles Kupchella may make a decision on the name in a month or so.
