Students to help searchfor meteorites

DECEMBER 19, 2000 Students at the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico, will help scientists at the University of New Mexico search for meteorites. SIPI and UNM will set up a Meteorite Identification Laboratory on the SIPI campus. Students will help analyze rock samples brought in by the public, in hopes of identifying those which are of non-earthly origins. Funding for the lab comes from a $402,000 grant from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Get the Story:
