Houser mural to be preserved

MARCH 30, 2001 A private developer in Brigham City, Utah, on Thursday agreed to have a mural painted by famous Chiricahua Apache artist Allan Houser preserved before he demolishes the building which currently houses it. The mural is located in the gymnasium of the old Intermountain Indian School. A group called Cape Advisors bought the entire school property and is demolishing all the buildings to make way for a housing development. Cape Advisors will remove the mural which could cost $40,000. It is not known at this time who will take the mural, but the Allan Houser Foundation of Santa Fe, New Mexico, has been seeking its preservation. Get the Story:
