Sequoyah might be in Mexico

MARCH 5, 2001 A Texas doctor believes the remains of reknowned Cherokee Nation scholar Sequoyah might be in Santa Rosa, Mexico. Sequoyah had been traveling to Mexico around 1843 in search of Cherokees who migrated there. He later died there but no one is sure exactly where he was buried. Cherokee Nation vice chief Hastings Shade, a Sequoyah descendant, is considering going to Mexico to visit the identified location of the grave. Get the Story:
