According to data compiled by the Washington State Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction on Monday, American Indian and minority students are still lagging in test scores behind White students.

The data comes from the results of the state's Washington Assessment of Student Learning test. The test is given to fourth, seventh, and 10th graders but Indian students failed to meet statewide goals at the same rates as Whites.

While 18.3 percent of white students met the state standard last year in seventh-grade math, only 7.4 of American Indian students met the standard.
