JUNE 20, 2001

In an editorial today, the Sioux Falls Argus Leader criticizes the Woonsocket school board for delaying its decision to change the "Redmen" nickname of Woonsocket High School.

The South Dakota paper says the task force the board set up to ease transition of the nickname might be belpful. But the paper says the delay only serves to diminish from the original decision to get rid of the "offensive" nickname.

The paper had previously praised the board for not changing its mind on the nickname.
