Educators fear test scores

JUNE 27, 2000 Native educators in Alaska are fearing that the test scores of Native sophmores will show that many have not passed the first statewide high school graduation qualifying examination. They hope to meet with Governor Tony Knowles and State Education Commissioner Rick Cross to discuss issues facing Native students. The results of the test have yet to be broken down by sex, ethnicity, or school district, but Cross said many didn't pass one or more of the reading, writing and math portions of the test. Students who don't pass will have an opportunity to take the test again. Get the Story:
