Editorial: Bring Indian U. to S.D.

MONDAY, JULY 16, 2001 In an editorial today, the Sioux Falls Argus Leader says the state of South Dakota is the perfect location for a national Indian university. The paper says the university, which is currently under consideration by Indian Affairs Committee Chairman Senator Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii), is long-awaited and South Dakota would be a logical choice because it is home to the only two tribal colleges which offer master's degrees. The paper also says the university would be the best place to integrate tribal culture with academics and to address unique legal, health and other issues facing Indian Country. Get the Story:
