The National Park Service keeps Pueblo artifacts in such poor condition that workers have fallen ill while working among the collection of 3 million documents, photographs and items located in a warehouse at Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado.

The Park Service links the illnesses of at least three workers to the presence of stachybotrys, a type of mold, in the 5,104-square-foot shed. Low levels of the mold were detected earlier this month so the Park Service shut down the Mesa Verde Research Center for about 20 days.

A second test was conducted last week, which showed no levels of the mold. Workers returned on Monday.
