Trail of Tears site to be dedicated

AUGUST 7, 2000 A Trail of Tears site in De Queen, Arkansas, will be dedicated this fall, along with a festival and powwow sponsored by the Sevier County Museum. The site marks one of the spots along the Trail of Tears. The Cherokee, Choctaw, Creek, Chickasaw and Seminole Nations were forcibly removed from Georgia and other Eastern states and walked the Trail of Tears to Oklahoma, Indian Territory.
