SEPTEMBER 13, 2000 The newly named Tribal Partnership Initiative Task Force is beginning its work as the University of Nebraska at Lincoln's Native outreach program. The group will focus on three areas: recruitment and retention of Native students and teachers, promotion of tribal economic development, and tribal college development. The group will work with Nebraska's four tribes -- the Santee Sioux, Winnebago, Omaha, and Ponca -- and two tribal colleges. But it also hopes to work with Sioux tribes and colleges in South Dakota.
