SEPTEMBER 21, 2000 The University of Wisconsin has admitted to digitally altering a picture by inserting the face of an African-American student on the cover of its admissions application . Diallo Shabazz, a senior, is shown smiling among a group of white students at a football game. Apparently, his photo was used without his consent and Shabazz has never actually attended a football game. The University has apologized to Shabazz. No disciplinary action will be taken against adminstrators who approved the cover, however, because they admitted they made a mistake and apologized. The Associated Press has created an animated graphic of the two photos: the original and the doctored one.
