Tribes ask scientists not to study Kennewick

SEPTEMBER 27, 2000 Five tribes in the Northwest are asking a group of eight scientists to drop their lawsuit against the Department of Interior and not pursue study of Kennewick Man. On Monday, the Interior ruled that the 9,000-year-old remains belong to five tribes in Washington in Oregon. However, scientists are suing for the right to study Kennewick Man and that lawsuit is still pending. A lawyer for the scientists said dropping the lawsuit isn't an option. Get the Story:
