Protest held over Abenaki construction

Members of the Abenaki Nation on Monday protested construction on what the New Hampshire state archaeolgoist says is one of the largest known Abenaki sites in the state.

The Squam Lakes Natural Science Center in Holderness is planning a $1.2 million expansion. But the tribe and archaeologist Gary Hume say burial grounds will destroyed.
