The University of Nebraska won't allow two Cheyenne men to rebury recently discovered remains at the school's East Campus in Lincoln, said chancellor Harvey Perlman on Sunday.

Perlman said the site where the two men want to rebury the bones is not a cemetery. However, he has erected a monument to remains the school incinerated and dumped in a landfill at the site in question.

A Santee Sioux activist who has uncovered the debacle said the state should step in and allow the reburial. Ralph Thomas also said legal action could be taken on the issue.
