Tribe's salmon ladder almost complete
OCTOBER 2, 2000

The Puyallup Tribe of Washington and Puget Sound Energy have been working on a fishing ladder on the Puyallup River for the past three years, and salmon are getting ready to climb it.

The $1 million ladder will allow salmon to bypass the 96-year-old Electron Dam. The tribe hopes it will restore salmon to the river, which haven't seen spawning in almost 100 years since the dam's construction in 1904.
