Pueblo may get mineral rights

MONDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2001 The House Committee on Resources last week approved a bill to return mineral rights to 67,710 acres of land to Acoma Pueblo in New Mexico. The acreage was originally part of the tribe's land grant. But the government gave it to a railroad company and now the mineral rights are owned an an Arizona mining company. The bill would trade NZ Corp.'s rights for others, or would authorize the government to buy the rights. Get the Story:
