N.D. eyed for methane production

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2001 Three companies say they are looking at western North Dakota for potential coalbed methane gas development. The efforts of Burlington Resources, Colorado-based Over the Hill Land Services and Alberta, Canada-based Suncor Energy in North Dakota are preliminary, said a state official. In other areas of the Plains, methane production is expanding. Region 8 of the Environmental Protection Agency is considering new regulations affecting the use of water from coalbed development. The standards will affect development in Indian Country, should tribes in the region agree to exploit the resource. Get the Story:
