Nuclear waste not a threat says US

The Department of Energy on Thursday said nuclear waste at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation in Washington doesn't pose a threat to the Columbia River.

There has been groundwater contamination. But the DOE says there is no immediate risk to the water system.
