FEBRUARY 16, 2001 Despite a Republican-led effort to review all of former President Clinton's monument designations, his decision to name the Tent Rocks in New Mexico a national monument will most likely stick due to local bipartisan support. Senator Jeff Bingaman (D), Senator Pete Domenici, and Representative Tom Udall (R) have all supported the monument, although Domenici had some concerns at first. But since local and Pueblo officials supported it, he changed his mind. Representative James Hansen (R-Utah) has launched a formal review. He is the chairman of the House Resources Committee.
