MARCH 29, 2001

Carolyn Appelman of The Albuquerque Journal today provides an account of her visit to the recently designated Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument, near Cochiti Pueblo in New Mexico.

The monument, declared by President Clinton in January, is one of several being targeted by Interior Secretary Gale Norton for potential changes.

Kasha-Katuwe means "white cliffs" in Keres, the language spoken at Cochiti Pueblo.
