The tribal council of the Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut met on Monday to discuss scaling back its proposed fisheries plan.

Tribal Ambassador Jayne Fawcett said the tribe had made an attempt to inform locals about the project, including holding public hearings. For whatever reason, however, fishermen and the state Department of Environmental Protection began raising opposition last month.

Fawcett said the tribe will scale back its plan but only so far. The tribe has asked the US Army Corps of Engineers for a number of permits and will probably amend its already submitted application.
