MAY 29, 2001 A federal judge last week approved a $25 million settlement against Koch Industries for theft of oil from federal and Indian lands. The suit was brought by Bill Koch against the company run by his brother Charles Koch. About 44 percent of the leases a jury found the company underpaid were owned by the Osage Nation, whose Chairman Charles Tillman supported Charles. For bringing the suit under the false claims act, Bill will get $7.37 million of the settlement. The government may redistribute some of the rest to tribes. Get the Story:
