JUNE 15, 2001

The Bureau of Land Management today will announce that it plans to keep one provision of the hard-rock mining regulations finalized by the Clinton administration, reports the Denver Post.

The regulation requires companies to post bonds who mine gold, molybdenum, and other metals on public lands. The bonds are used to clean up land when the mining ends.

The remainder of the "3902" hard-rock regulations are still under review by the Bush administration.
